Local news only works if people trust the platform that carries it. Gazetz is built so reporters, witnesses, and readers can feel comfortable that accounts, location, and identity are taken seriously.
Comfort checklist
- We do not sell personal data to ad brokers
- Location is for verification and local relevance — not a product to resell
- Anonymous posting options exist when the product supports them
- Public story API is rate-limited; paywalled bodies stay withheld
- Card data handled by payment providers, not stored as raw card numbers by Gazetz
Report a vulnerability
Email info@gazetz.com with a description and steps to reproduce. Please do not post exploits publicly. Good-faith research is welcome. We aim to acknowledge within 2 business days.
Baseline protections
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/HTTPS/TLS) and at rest in cloud storage.
- Access control — private account data is not world-readable; server rules and authenticated functions gate sensitive actions.
- Secrets live in cloud secret managers, not in the downloadable app.
- Payments via platform stores and/or Stripe — full card numbers are not stored on Gazetz servers.
- Metered public API — free discovery is rate-limited; commercial keys are quota-tracked so bulk scraping is not unlimited.
Specific to Gazetz
- Witness & location signals exist to make local reporting more trustworthy — not to build a commercial location dossier for sale.
- Editorial leak-guards on the public API: only published stories, anonymous bylines respected, subscriber-only bodies withheld.
- Account deletion and privacy controls are available so users can leave cleanly.
What we do not claim (yet)
We may not yet publish a SOC 2 letter or a paid bug-bounty program for Gazetz. We design to modern security practices and will post formal audit results when we have them. Honesty beats over-claiming.
